?Get a Hustle On?It?s Leap Year?

In researching the tradition of leap year marriage proposals, Parkin discovered a vast quantity of cartoonish postcards depicting proposing women as fugly harridans. Postcards? purpose in early-20th-century America fell somewhere between that of text messages and that of image macros?a way to convey practical information and share jokes back when mail was delivered twice a day. One of the most popular leap-year memes depicted proposing women as fat, unattractive, and domineering?sometimes even violent?and the men they proposed to as scrawny, weak, and emasculated. ?For example, one of the postcards shows a tiny man squeaking ?I surrender? as two gargantuan women, brandishing a total of four deadly weapons, pin him against the wall.

(AP) ? Cheering as loudly as any movie audience, Hollywood and the Obama administration on Saturday hailed China's agreement to reduce barriers that have kept U.S.-made films out of the booming Chinese market.

Vice President Joe Biden called it a "breakthrough," and said the accord will "make it easier than ever before for U.S. studios and independent filmmakers to reach the fast-growing Chinese audience." He added that it will support "thousands of American jobs in and around the film industry."

The agreement was announced Friday during a California visit by Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, with Biden serving as host.

Gaining entrance to China's movie market has long been atop Hollywood's wish list, and the industry's chief lobby group, the Motion Picture Association of America, said the "landmark" deal will significantly boost U.S. exports to China overall.

It's also a rare bright spot in a trade relationship that's been a major battleground. The administration has repeatedly pressed Beijing to be more open to U.S. exports ? especially by letting China's currency rise ? and do more to prevent piracy of movies and other intellectual property.

U.S. officials first complained to the World Trade Organization in 2007 about film import restrictions, and the WTO ruled in Washington's favor two years later.

Under the accord, U.S. filmmakers will be given new opportunities to distribute their films outside China's state-run movie monopoly, will have better commercial terms for 3-D and other large-format films, and will reap a bigger share of the profit for films that are distributed by Chinese companies.

The market in question has been growing rapidly. Box office receipts last year topped $2 billion, U.S. officials said.

Chris Dodd, the association's CEO, who visited Shanghai last June to press Hollywood's case, said Friday's agreement "will return a much better share of the box office revenues to U.S studios, revising a two-decade-old formula that kept those revenues woefully under normal commercial terms." He estimated that Chinese audiences would see 50 percent more U.S. films.

Disney CEO Robert Iger added that the agreement is a "significant opportunity" in the world's most populous nation.

Workplace Safety And Profitability Are Strange Bedfellows ? ~k4y0~

It is estimated that over 40 million workers in the United States had to receive emergency medical treatment for workplace-related injuries. If one would give pause to the purported efforts of most companies into ensuring the safety of their workplace, this number cannot help but raise a few questions. In recent years, so many companies have had to bear culpability for injuries that occurred in a place of business. The purpose of this economic dissertation is to prove the correlation between workplace safety and the generation of profits.

Everybody in business, particularly those companies that are affiliated with industrial manufacturing seek constant and consistent improvement in their processes and the products themselves. They are cognizant of the direct relation of profits to the actual procedures used in creating these products. So intense is the chase for greater sales and profitability that a lot of companies in America are now treating workplace safety like the proverbial red-headed stepchild.

The costs associated with operating a large manufacturing facility in America are astounding. Workplace injuries place a massive burden of expense and weakened productivity on a company. These injuries can be reduced with proper planning and careful attention to detail. Most workplace injuries are preventable. There are a number of factors to consider, but maintaining a safe and tidy work area is one of the best ways to prevent injury. Workers, too, have a responsibility in keeping themselves safe from harm.

Workplace injuries place a significant burden on health care providers and insurance companies. With companies paying more and more on employee health care premiums, one of the more prevalent ways of recouping costs hitherto spent would be to increase the prices of commodities and services. This places the burden of expense on the consumer, and allows companies to ignore the root cause of their workplace injuries. Be that as it may, the main focus apparently seems to have shifted from scratching the backs of the shareholders rather than the health and well-being of the workforce at large.

It is interesting to note that there are record numbers of jobs, especially in the industrial sector, being sent overseas. There are a number of reasons to account for this. By inexpensively acquiring labor from mostly third world countries, American companies are thus able to significantly cut down on the costs of operation, costing a mere percentage of what they would normally be paying for domestic assistance. The foreign governments, on the other hand, are all too happy to invest, and as a result, giddily accommodate the interest invested by corporate America. Invariably, workplace safety is compromised, thus making such a deal appear Faustian in nature.

If companies want to be profitable in the long term, they need to reexamine their approach to workplace safety and the health of their workers. With the number of foreign countries offering inexpensive labor and a lax labor code still numerous, American companies still outsource their jobs overseas. American companies can be both profitable and safety conscious. That is why every American company owner must, in our esteemed opinion, make safety education a priority and work on preempting injuries catastrophic and minor alike. Remember: a safe worker is a happy worker, and a happy worker is a productive worker.

Bridgit Antoinette Evans: Fighting Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Laws... with a Pen

She wasn't arrested.

Still, Ugandan writer Judy Adong knew the risks when she organized a recent reading of her play, Just You, Me, and the Silence, about her country's anti-homosexuality laws. It was, after all, held in Kampala, the epicenter of a growing climate of hate that has resulted in the harassment and physical assault of gay Ugandans and their straight allies. In the most extreme case, respected LGBT activist David Kato was brutally murdered.

First introduced into Uganda's parliament in 2009, the so-called "Kill the Gays" legislation -- which called for a death sentence for certain homosexual acts -- was met with a mass outcry, including public condemnation by President Obama and other world leaders. As opposition to the bill surged, lawmakers in Uganda appeared to back down.

Until now. As reported by major news outlets, Uganda's parliament has reintroduced the bill, this time replacing the death penalty with a life sentence for those convicted of numerous homosexual "offences." Far from being a discouragement to Ms. Adong and other human rights advocates in her country, this news has only proven that it is the hearts and minds of Ugandans, as much as their laws, that must be challenged and changed.

This goal of transforming cultural attitudes and beliefs is one artists are uniquely equipped to achieve. From films like Hotel Rwanda and An Inconvenient Truth to albums like Instant Karma: The Campaign to Save Darfur and plays like the Pulitzer-Prize-winning Ruined, artists have used their creative talent to chip away at the bigotry, indifference, and fear that can cripple communities across the globe. Artists' skills extend far beyond the theaters, film sets, and museums in which we most often work. We are, at heart, savvy communicators who often drive mass adoption of new ideas and keenly understand how to move people and establish common ground. As Dan Savage demonstrated with his "It Gets Better" campaign, we are also entrepreneurial in spirit and regularly create new business models that generate significant charitable funds and resources for urgent causes. We humanize statistics and make change feel irresistible. In the end, artists make activists' work easier by cultivating a more tolerant audience for their urgent calls to action.

In the case of Ms. Adong, this work is done at considerable risk to her safety. While she hasn't been arrested yet, Ms. Adong does face a daily deluge of angry, vicious feedback on various online forums. Now, with the reemergence of the anti-gay legislation, one can only imagine that the dangers she faces will increase.

But there's hope. When U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered her landmark speech about LGBT human rights in Geneva in late 2011, she also announced the launch of the Global Equality Fund to financially bolster the work of NGOs in countries where LGBT human rights are under attack. Equally significant to artists, a press release distributed by the State Department at that time stated that the Fund would support "programs that enhance public awareness and further positive dialogue, such as inclusive civic education and cultural activities."

It's a short sentence, but one that could have profound implications -- if the State Department makes good on its promise and concretely supports cultural activities and artists who are defending LGBT human rights through their work. But will they? Will Secretary Clinton and her staff view the production of plays, the screening of films, the performance of music as a vital, strategic tactic in building human rights culture in Uganda?

Ms. Adong hopes so. Her play has already mobilized audiences in London, New York, and now Kampala. It has emboldened a group of Ugandan actors to step out on faith that being on the right side of history will protect them should their government target them or their neighbors harass them. It has spawned panel discussions, press articles, and a spirited online exchange between a diverse group of activists, artists, U.N. officials, and funders. It's helping position Uganda's LGBT rights crisis within our global conversation.

Despite this proven impact, there are those who feel that more urgent needs must be addressed in the LGBT human rights movement before funds are invested in the work of artists. Organizations need offices, staff, security, and safe houses. Activists need lawyers to represent them when they are arrested.

But if governments and funders are truly committed to creating the social and cultural climate that allows activists to effectively defeat legislation like that proposed in Uganda, they would do well to provide protection and support to artists who, like Judy Adong, are dramatically changing the all-important beliefs and attitudes that provide the engine for hate -- and for human rights.

New protected areas for dolphins declared

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Three new wildlife sanctuaries for Ganges River and Irrawaddy dolphins declared by the Government of Bangladesh.

Wildlife Conservation Society collaborative study with Bangladesh Forest Department helped pinpoint location of new protected areas.

NEW YORK ? The Government of Bangladesh recently declared three new wildlife sanctuaries for endangered freshwater dolphins in the world's largest mangrove ecosystem ? the Sundarbans, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) whose conservation work helped pinpoint the locations of the protected areas.

The sanctuaries, which were officially declared on January 29, will protect the last two remaining species of freshwater dolphins in Asia: the Ganges River dolphin and the Irrawaddy dolphin. Although there is no global population estimate for either species, both have disappeared from major portions of their range. However, both species occur in the Sundarbans in sufficient numbers, which may serve as a global safety net for preventing their extinction

The three wildlife sanctuaries safeguard 19.4 mi (31.4 km) of channels with a total area of 4.1 sq mi (10.7 sq km). The locations and sizes of the sanctuaries in the Sundarbans were determined according to a study conducted by WCS and Bangladesh Forest Department and published in the journal Oryx in 2010. The study found that the habitat of Ganges River and Irrawaddy dolphins were clumped in waterways where human activities are most intense.

"Declaration of these Wildlife Sanctuaries is an essential first step in protecting Ganges River and Irrawaddy dolphins in Bangladesh," said Brian D. Smith, Director of the WCS's Asian Freshwater and Coastal Cetacean Program, and first author of the study. "As biological indicators of ecosystem-level impacts, freshwater dolphins can inform adaptive human-wildlife management to cope with climate change suggesting a broader potential for conservation and sustainable development."

Dr. Tapan Kumar Dey, Conservator of Forests, Wildlife, Forest Department, Bangladesh, said: "A critical component will be to engage local human communities. The wildlife sanctuaries will be used as a natural laboratory for developing management practices that balance wildlife conservation with the resource demands of a large and growing human population."

The dolphins are threatened by fatal entanglements in fishing gear, depletion of their prey from the enormous by-catch of fish and crustaceans in fine-mesh "mosquito" nets used to catch fry for shrimp farming, and increasing salinity and sedimentation caused by sea-level rise and changes in the availability of upstream freshwater flow.

News of the declared sanctuaries is particularly welcome considering the recent extinction of the Yangtze River dolphin whose last confirmed sighting was in 2002. Fatal entanglement in nets and habitat degradation killed off this species after having survived in the Yangtze River of China for more than 10 million years.

Freshwater dolphins are among the most threatened wildlife on earth because their habitat is highly impacted by human activities, including dam construction and unsustainable fisheries. In addition to conserving globally important populations of freshwater dolphins, the new wildlife sanctuaries in the Sundarbans will provide protection for other threatened aquatic wildlife including the river terrapin, masked finfoot, and small-clawed otter.

Bangladesh has been recognized as a "hotspot" for cetaceans, the scientific grouping of dolphins, whales, and porpoises. In April 2009, the Wildlife Conservation Society announced the discovery of the world's largest population of nearly 6,000 Irrawaddy dolphins in the country. A portion of this population shares habitat with the endangered Ganges River dolphin, whose range extends all the way upstream to the shadow of the Himalayas in Nepal.

Starting on February 18, 2012, WCS, through its Bangladesh Cetacean Diversity Project, will bring a boat-based dolphin exhibition called the "Shushuk Mela" to local communities bordering the Sundarbans mangrove forest. This month-long traveling exhibition will raise awareness about the new wildlife sanctuaries and engage local fishermen and other community members in discussions on adaptive management needed to ensure human-dolphin coexistence.

Asia giants join Iran diplomacy as sanctions hurt trade (Reuters)

BEIJING/HAMBURG (Reuters) ? China said on Friday it would send a senior official to Tehran to discuss Iran's nuclear standoff with the West, and India indicated it would also weigh in, as Asia's two giants seek to head off new sanctions already playing havoc with trade.

New financial sanctions imposed by the United States and European Union are making it difficult for Iran to pay for staple food and other imports, causing hardship for its 74 million people with just weeks to go before an election.

Commodities traders revealed this week that Iran has resorted to barter trade - swapping gold bullion in overseas vaults or tankerloads of oil for food - to avoid payments problems in international banks over sanctions.

On the streets of Iran, prices for food in dollar terms have doubled or tripled in recent months.

In the latest evidence of trade disruption, metal traders said Iran's imports of steel for construction had collapsed because sanctions prevent buyers from obtaining the currency needed to purchase it.

The International Energy Agency, which monitors oil markets for developed countries, said on Friday EU oil sanctions and U.S. financial measures due to take effect over the course of the next several months were already hitting global trade flows.

In an analysis ominous for Tehran, the IEA also said there was enough oil supply worldwide to prevent a price shock if Iran is blockaded this year.

That makes it easier for Washington to impose harsh sanctions envisioned under a new law which requires President Barack Obama to assess the impact on energy markets before pressing ahead with its most draconian measures.

"The market in 2012 likely has sufficient supply-side flexibility" to adjust to any loss in Iranian volumes due to sanctions, its monthly report said. It cited softer demand growth, Saudi spare capacity and the resumption of supplies from Libya that were disrupted last year.

China's Foreign Ministry said on Friday Assistant Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu would head to Iran for talks on Sunday.

"We have consistently advocated dialogue as the only proper channel for resolving the Iran nuclear issue," ministry spokesman Liu Weimin told a regular news briefing. Ma will "have a further exchange of views with Iran over its nuclear program," he added.

China is one of six powers - along with Britain, France, Germany, Russia and the United States - negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program, which Western states say is aimed at building a weapon but Iran says is peaceful.

Those talks collapsed a year ago and show little sign of resuming. Iran refuses to negotiate over its uranium enrichment program and Western countries say there is no point in talking unless uranium enrichment is on the table.

China is also Iran's biggest trade partner, buying a fifth of Iran's oil exports last year.

If Iran is to endure sanctions without severe pain, it would need China to keep buying its oil and even increase its purchases to make up for lost sales to Europe. But China has been playing hardball with Iran, seeking steep discounts for oil, cutting its purchases this year by more than half and securing alternative supplies from Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Cuts in Chinese oil purchases make India the biggest buyer of Iranian oil this year. A payments system for trade between India and Iran was shut down last year under U.S. pressure. Under a new agreement, Iran is meant to accept 45 percent of the value of its oil in Indian rupees to buy Indian goods, but the system is not yet running while India decides how such transactions would be taxed. Indian traders have had difficulty receiving payment for rice and tea they send to Iran.

European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, visiting India, said the EU also wanted Delhi to help press Iran to give up its nuclear program to end sanctions.

"In order to achieve that result, you need more pressure on Iran, more sanctions on Iran," he said.

India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh defended India's trade ties with Iran, and leant Delhi's backing to diplomacy.

"Iran is a close neighbor. It is an important source for our energy," he said. "There are problems with Iran's nuclear program. We sincerely believe that this issue can be and should be resolved by giving maximum scope to diplomacy."

HARDSHIP BEFORE VOTE

Iran is heavily dependent on imports to feed its people, buying 45 percent of its rice and most of its animal feed abroad. Trade problems caused by sanctions appear to be worsening inflation already high because of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's economic policies, which have replaced subsidies for basic goods with cash payments to families.

The result is severe hardship for many ordinary Iranians, with just three weeks to go before a parliamentary election that will pit Ahmadinejad's supporters against conservatives who oppose his economic reforms. Reformists - either barred or boycotting - are barely represented.

The election will be Iran's first since a presidential vote in 2009, when Ahamadinejad's disputed victory over reformist opponents triggered eight months of violent street protests. That uprising was put down by force, but since then the "Arab Spring" has shown the vulnerability of authoritarian governments in the region to public anger over economic hardship.

The latest disruptions in Iran's trade have been caused in part because agents in the United Arab Emirates were no longer permitted to act as middlemen and process payments for Iranian buyers of imported commodities.

Shipments of palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia - which represent 90 percent of the global supply of the vegetable oil staple - have been halted. Grain ships have been diverted.

Iran is one of the world's biggest importers of billet, or semi-finished steel bars, used in construction. A steel trader at a Swiss metals trading house said: "Now you can feel the effects of the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and Europe... It is very difficult to do any business with Iran at the moment."

Boris Krasnojenov, an analyst with Moscow-based Renaissance Capital, said the collapse in trade with Iran was a major problem for Russian steel plants. It has depressed international prices, knocking nearly 10 percent off the price of Russian and Ukrainian steel over the past month.

There are signs that Iran is quickly finding new ways to circumvent sanctions, but these could mean paying over the odds for imports and selling exports at a discount. Barter is particularly inefficient.

One European grains trader told Reuters: "Iran is a rich country but has been caught by surprise by the sanctions and the decision by the United Arab Emirates not to allow the type of sanctions busting via Dubai which was commonplace in the past.

"The big trading houses are believed to have received crude oil and gold bullion as payment for past deals. The big boys have the ability and financial knowhow to quickly sell this on without suffering carry losses.

"No one really wants barter payments, but the Iranians appear to be getting their act together and are offering more financial payments in currencies apart from dollars or euros. Yen and Brazilian reals are being mentioned a lot."

Another trader said: "There is talk that banks in Bahrain are playing ball with Iran and helping out with payments. There is also talk that payments are being made via Venezuela."

The Effects of Menopause On Relationships | Baby care | Women's ...

Do you sometimes think about the effects of menopause on your relationships? How the rapid mood swings, irritability, and other emotional symptoms are affecting your loved ones? What toll the lack of motivation and crashing fatigue is having on your family obligations?

You maybe have a husband or partner and children who have not yet left home. You?ve always been there for them.

Now, you feel too tired, depressed or irritated to do what you normally do to maintain your family?s well-being. Your loved ones feel confused. They don?t understand what?s going on.

You too feel miserable, because you feel helpless to control these emotions. Yet, it is obvious that your nearest and dearest are suffering with you.

For couples, the effects of menopause can have far-reaching consequences.

The emotional and physical changes taking place in your body can have a significant effect on your intimate relationship.

The physical symptoms of menopause such as hair loss, dry skin or developing acne; and weight gain, make many women self-conscious about their appearance, even if this wasn?t the case before.

Women who already suffer from issues of self-esteem are greatly affected and this is reflected in the way they approach issues of intimacy. Menopause symptoms such as vaginal dryness and loss of libido, can significantly affect one?s intimate relationship.

If these changes are not understood and dealt with, communication breaks down; and silence and confusion take over, leaving the relationship at risk for infidelity, separation or divorce.

And, as if that wasn?t bad enough, menopause occurs at an age in a woman?s life when family structures are changing.

Children are becoming young adults, while parents are aging. Most likely you will face bereavement from the death of a parent during this phase.

It is also a time when you may have to face the prospects of retirement. All these concerns can contribute to stress and added strain on your relationships.

How To Protect Your Relationships Through Menopause

There is a way that you can protect your relationships from the effects of menopause.

Small adjustments in your overall outlook and daily routine should help you make it through the change of life with your relationships intact.

Below are some suggestions to help you make these adjustments:

Stay connected with your family, and friends. When you?re feeling fatigued, irritable or depressed, there is a great temptation to withdraw from those closest to you. Don?t! Make an extra effort to ensure that you spend time together, even when you don?t feel up to it.When the change of life is over, as it will be, and as you head further into your later years, friends and family will become more important. It is then, that you?ll be glad to have them at your side.Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Menopause brings with it an increased risk for debilitating and life threatening diseases, such as osteoporosis and heart disease. Poor health can only strain your relationships further. A nutritious and balanced diet, combined with exercise will reduce the risk of diseases and the burden that comes with it.And, besides keeping fit and healthy, engaging in an exercise or other physical activity can be a great way to stay connected with your loved ones or build new relationships.Avoid alcohol or tranquilizers. Alcohol and tranquilizers are both depressants. If you are going through troubling mood swings or bouts of depression, alcohol and/or tranquilizers may simply make it worse or create other undesirable effects.Engage in a productive activity. Involving yourself in church or charity work, sports activity or hobby, provides a sense of self-esteem and achievement. This will make you feel better about yourself and will improve the way you interact with others including family and friends.Find your inner strength. Learn and practice calming techniques such yoga and meditation. Read a book. Find spiritual strength in prayer. Calming activities will help you maintain emotional balance and keep mood changes in check.Write it down. Keeping a journal or diary, will allow you to write down your thoughts, problems, plans or anything else going through your mind. This will help you gain a sense of perspective on your situation, and help to reduce your emotional stress.

Finally do keep in mind, that what you are going through is a phase. It will take some years, but it will pass.

Trion Worlds Brings Rift To China

riftGame-maker Trion Worlds is revealing its global ambitions ? it just announced a partnership with Chinese Internet company Shanda to release Trion's online roleplaying game Rift in China. The game had a successful launch in the United States and Europe last year, supposedly bringing in $100 million in revenue. Trion CEO Lars Buttler says he sees Asia as the company's "next great frontier," one that he plans to conquer through the Shanda deal and another partnership to launch in Korea. Amazon, Redbox Expand Streaming Video with M&A, Blip Raises ...

There?s a new dawn for streaming video services, promising cheaper access to millions of video convents. ?Amazon is gearing up their streaming service in partnership with Viacom to provide a stiff competition to Netflix, while Blip raised a new round of funding to enhance their web content. Here are some recent developments in streaming video sector.

Amazon Expands its Catalog with Viacom

The online retailer has a deal with the media group Viacom that allows it to expand its range of videos available to stream on the internet, and represents the final steps in a plan to launch a subscription service to compete with Netflix.

The online video market, currently dominated by Netflix, should become increasingly competitive in the coming years as large companies are entering this segment. ?Netflix currently streams service with nearly 22 million subscribers in the United States.

Subscribers to Amazon Prime, benefiting from both improved delivery times for their free online shipping and web-based video streaming, will have access to a total catalog of 15,000 movies and TV television programs, with the addition of Viacom programs covered by this new deal.

Viacom, which claims MTV, Nickelodeon and Paramount Studios in its conglomerate, will now be available on Amazon?s Prime Instant Video service. Until now, major media companies like CBS, Warner Bros. Time Warner, News Corp Fox, Sony, Comcast, NBC Universal and Walt Disney have licensed programming to Amazon.

The improvement of this catalog also allows Amazon to provide even more attractive content to its multimedia Kindle Fire tablet. ?Amazon wants to open its collection of licensed films and television programs as a separate service for clients outside the prime segment, and use it to boost the Kindle Fire tablet.

Analysts estimate that Amazon sold about five million Kindle Fire tablets in the fourth quarter, and the company can sell more than double that in 2012. An essential part of Amazon?s strategy is to have lots of content, including video, music and applications for tablets users.

Blip Raises $12-Million Round of Funding

Online video network Blip.tv?announced a $12-million round of funding. The company is also re-branding its name from Blip.tv to simply Blip.

Blip will use the new cash to develop more sophisticated tools and products for web content providers. Blip will also utilize the funding to enrich its advertising and distribution platforms.

The new round of funding includes investment from Bain Capital and Canaan Parters. The company earlier had raised an equal amount of debt funding from Silicon Valley Bank.

Blips currently has more than 13 million unique monthly visitors in the US. The company provides 330 million video views per month to its 30 million users globally, counting one fourth of these are paying subscribers. It also streams video content to a number of other platforms such as iTunes, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Roku, Verizon FiOS, TiVo and Sony TV.

Redbox Acquires Blockbuster Express

Movie and video game rental kiosk provider, Redbox (parent company Coinstar), has entered into an agreement to buy NCR Blockbuster Express kiosks and related assets for $100 million. The acquisition includes the purchase of the DVD kiosks, certain retailer contracts, and DVD inventory from NCR?s entertainment line of business.

The latest move comes just after Redbox entered a deal with Verizon to offer a new movie streaming service similar to Netflix. Redbox, which currently has 35,400 kiosks installed nationwide and roughly 9,000 existing Blockbuster kiosks will rebrand the acquired Blockbuster kiosks with its Redbox label.

?We are very pleased to enter into this agreement with NCR,? said Scott Di Valerio, chief financial officer of Coinstar, Inc. and interim president of Redbox. ?As the global self-service solutions leader, NCR has strong technology, manufacturing and servicing capabilities, and we look forward to leveraging their expertise as Coinstar continues to grow its core automated retail businesses and expands its offerings.?

YouTube still leads the online video market. ?But the majority of big and small players are now looking to create more video inventory and a range of services around premium content to attract more users and create a new online video advertising ecosystem.

International Domain Names and Their Commercial Importance

Published by Albertson | February 7, 2012 | | 3

Domain names have become major contributer in international business and online brand building; however, they must be international domain names to serve the purpose. Whereas there are several advantages using international domain names for the customers or clients, one major advantage of buying the same is that there are multitude of options available today which were unavailable earlier i.e. international domain names in local language and script. This has become a hard reality for the millions of customers around the world who consider international domain names a priority for success in business and trade.

International domain names in Latin script in English language are almost occupied and this particularly true about the much famous ones. Thus, there is no space for international domain names for popular terms, even the less popular terms have been registered by people who resell the same at higher prices to the interested parties.

This indeed is an unwelcome situation but cannot be sorted out for the regime for domain name registration permits such a practice. In order to counter such a situation, International Domain Name registration companies came up a solution wherein they register any international domain name albeit in local language.

Thus, the domain names which are otherwise unavailable for users can now be bought albeit in local language. Though it may not be as useful as are the international domain names in Latin script, these nevertheless, cater the specific requirement for the international domain names to great extent. Apart from meeting the specific requirement for international domain names that are unavailable otherwise in Latin script, the companies that provide domain name registration also make registration easy and swift for clients.

Similarly, Icelandic domains can now be registered without much hassle wherein an user gets a domain name .IS. The registration process is simple and swift, the user need to log in to the website and enter the desired domain name and if it is available, he can proceed with the registration. Payments are made using Credit Card, PayPal, and bank deposits using USD or Euro. Thus, simplifying the entire Icelandic domains name registration, the domain name registration companies have solved serious concern from the companies that wanted such domain names but were unable to get the same for obvious reason that these were unavailable earlier.

Russian carrier gives $5,000 vacation to its most data hungry customer

Use more data, win more prizes. It may sound counterintuitive, but that's exactly what Russian operator MegaFon is offering to its subscribers, as part of a curious 3G promotion. It all began back in November, when the provider announced a rather straightforward contest: customers who downloaded the most data with their 3G modems would be awarded prizes worth up to one million rubles (about $33,000), including a $5,000 vacation. According to Russian news site C News, MegaFon launched the campaign in order to showcase the expanse of its data network, which apparently covers more than 80 percent of northwestern Russia and offers speeds of up to 21Mbps. The promotion came to an official close on January 31st, with the coronation of a lucky winner who, over the course of a single week, managed to scarf down 419GB of data on the company's 3G network. MegaFon didn't offer usage statistics on the second and third place winners, nor did it say what they won for their efforts, if you wanna call them that.

The Symptoms of Tinnitus | New Health and Fitness

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

The symptoms of tinnitus can trigger a whole lot of annoyance and problems for the sufferer. And on top of that, the symptoms could possibly be confusing too. Let us take an example to comprehend this far better.

You had been leading a perfectly good life, going to work and coming back residence everyday, but all of a sudden you start to hear strange noises inside the ear. Needless to say you believe that there must be a source of these noises. But strangely, no 1 else seems to hear them. You may turn into scared and think that the noises are coming from within your body, and so you go and meet your doctor. After several examinations, the doc confirms that every thing is fine within you. But the dilemma is, you still hear these noises. They?re beginning to get on your nerves and affect you at work. And worst, the noises seem to turn out to be worse at night, robbing you of your precious sleep.

That?s tinnitus for you. The noises you hear are its principal symptoms, and they could be of many types. You could hear strange clicking, ringing, buzzing, whistling or hissing sounds within the ear. But it is never the identical for everybody. There are a couple of who hear them all the time, and there are other people who get them from time to time. Then there are those who report an intense attack. And other people are bothered by a constant drill. But you can be certain about 1 thing ? a great deal of people in the US and elsewhere have tinnitus. So there?s nothing actually distinctive about your condition.

Most Symptoms of Tinnitus Are Nothing but Phantom Noises

A lot of individuals become confused when they can not locate a source of the noises they hear. And some of them even turn into scared. Usually these individuals are even ridiculed by those who can not hear the noises themselves. But for those that have tinnitus, the sounds appear completely real. Really, these are just phantom noises, a perception of hearing.

You will find Exceptions.

In at least 1 instance, the noise heard could possibly be real. In other words, there is a real source of the noise that you hear. This is identified as Pulsatile tinnitus. In this, you?d have the ability to hear your own heart beat, and it could drive you entirely crazy because you?d have to live with the constant beat all the time ? no pun intended.

There?s yet another distinction. There?s at least one a lot more individual who can hear these noises, and that is your doctor. The individual will nonetheless need to use a listening device to hear them. Do take note ? this isn?t the exact same as listening to the heart beat with a stethoscope. Here, the doctor will use a listening device to hear the noise at your ear, and not your chest.

What causes Pulsatile tinnitus? You could be hearing your heart beat should you have high blood pressure, have arterial harm, and even because of changes within the flow of blood. Sometimes, a lot of stress, anxiety or depression may also trigger this condition.

Tinnitus and Ear Pain

Occasionally the tinnitus noises could come together with pain or discomfort inside the ear. This generally happens when 1 or both of your ears are blocked because of excessive wax. So clear some of it, and the noise will go away.

But it is not often that simple to get rid of the noises. Sometimes the causes can be much more complicated, and there might be a number of contributing elements as well. Sadly, your conventional physician won?t have the ability to give you permanent relief due to the fact the treatment provided is only symptomatic. Treating the symptoms will never aid when the causes remain.

The only way you could ever get rid of your tinnitus for great is by following the holistic approach to healing. By utilizing a multidimensional treatment for tinnitus, we are tackling all tinnitus causative elements and eliminating these triggering elements from the root. This is the only path for permanent freedom from tinnitus.

Finding the best information about tinnitus miracle scam can be overwhelming at times. One of the best places we found online to get the straight facts is ringing in ears treatment

Home and Family ? Parenting Advices For New Parents | Annapolis ...

There is no doubt that having a baby surely is a wonderful experience for a couple. However, it could also be stressful especially for the first time mother and father. Many people could not relate as to how they have overcome the joys and blunders of being a parent for the first time. Thus, as you learn more about raising a home and family, you should come across and take note of specific parenting advices that are suited for first time parents. You should of course try to remember so many things before your baby arrives. Here are several of the most helpful ideas.
Be sure to prepare quick and easy meals to be stored in your refrigerator at least two weeks prior to baby?s delivery. You should anticipate the challenges of having to prepare meals and at the same time taking care of the baby. It is always nice to have something good to eat despite having to deal with so much pressure and tasks when taking care of your baby. Getting ready made meals after you have come home from the hospital would be great. Take note that when the baby is around, you might not have enough time and strength to do so.
Before the baby arrives, be sure to make a simple and comprehensive list of things you should do. When the baby comes, you might suddenly forget those due to your joy, excitement, and stress. Take note of priority or highly important tasks and appointments that you should attend to. Just because you have a baby does not mean you would not be responsible enough to meet your deadlines and attend scheduled functions. It would help if you would keep an updated organizer to keep track of upcoming schedules, appointments, and projects.
Do not be afraid and embarrassed to ask for any help. You could invite a sibling, a relative, or a close friend to come over to your house and watch the baby as you take a soothing bath or a sound nap. Ask someone you trust. You could also ask them to occasionally buy several grocery items for you or packages of diapers. You may not have time and strength to do such errands. Acknowledge and accept the fact that you could not possibly do it alone. You would surely need help. It would help a lot if you could rest assured that you could get one if you need it. Thinking so is healthy for the mental health.
Such parenting tips may not be a full guarantee that you and your spouse would be able to get relaxed and rested. There are still so many things to attend to and think about when you have your baby for the first time. But surely, such guidelines and insights could certainly help you attain a level of relaxation and peace of mind. There is no need to fret and to panic right after you have come home from the hospital. Always keep your cool and enjoy your being a first time parent.
