Luke Rockhold and Tim Kennedy are great at fighting, but not rulebreaking (VIDEO)

Luke Rockhold will get a chance to defend the Strikeforce middleweight belt against Tim Kennedy on July 14 in Portland. The two have been pushing for a match-up, but not because they hate each other. They just wanted a good fight.

In fact, these two can't even be bad when they are being pushed into it by Strikeforce commentator Frank Shamrock.

One quibble, Frank. Rockhold and Kennedy's painting was not of Mother Teresa. It's Our Lady of Guadalupe, the image of the Virgin Mary who appeared to Juan Diego in Mexico in the 1600s.

Though they're both nice guys, they still match up for an interesting bout. Who will win? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Gisele Bundchen's baby bump revealed!

AKM-GSI

Gisele Bundchen shows her baby bump while in Rio.

By Courtney Hazlett

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen has yet to actually confirm that she is pregnant with her and husband Tom Brady's second child, but by the looks of things, there's another Brady-Bundchen on the way. Photographed at the Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro Saturday, Bundchen appeared low key and fairly pregnant.

Rumors that the couple might be expecting again began at the Costume Institute Gala in May, when it was reportedthat her bespoke Givenchy dress had to be tailored to accommodate a changing figure. It's also worth noting that Bundchen never confirmed her first pregnancy. News broke after she shot an ad campaign for London Fog while pregnant, and were confirmed to be retouched to respect her privacy.

Bundchen and Brady have a son named?Benjaminwho is 2 1/2, and the model has said in the past that she'd like more kids. "I want more kids for sure, but I don't know when," Bundchen told British Vogue in their December 2010 issue.

Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, Wife of Miami Heat Star, Arrested on Child Abduction Charges

Dwyane Wade is currently battling the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.

But the elite shooting guard was faced with an obstacle far greater than guarding Kevin Durant this weekend, when his estranged ex-wife attempted to kidnap the former couple's two children.

Dwyane Wade Photo

A rep for the Cook County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Siohvaughn Funches-Wade was arrested for allegedly trying to abduct the boys, saying in a statement:

"Siohvaughn Funches-Wade was charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest."

She posted $10,000 bond and will appear in court again this August.

Dwyane - who is dating actress Gabrielle Union - has legal custody of the children and will reportedly use this incident to limit Siohvaughn's visitation rights, considering it's not even her first foray into seriously shady behavior.

In the past couple years, Siohvaughn has sued Union for causing emotional distress and also accused Wade of giving her a STD.

Why I can?t agree with the Church of England on Gay Marriage

This somewhat witty infographic puts, I feel, the whole debate on gay marriage into perspective.

I am a Christian. Specifically, an Anglican. I was raised in a Church of England family, attending a Church of England church, and was baptised and confirmed into the Church of England.

I?m also in favour of legalising gay marriage. I never really saw any great problem or contradiction with this, but apparently I was wrong. Last week the CofE released a response to the government?s consultation on legalising gay marriage, and my view seems to have been decided for me:

?The Church of England cannot support the proposal to enable ?all couples, regardless of their gender, to have a civil marriage ceremony?.?

Which is odd, because I don?t agree with that, and I was under the impression I was part of the Church of England. But whatever, it?s far from the only contradiction in the thirteen page document, so perhaps I should let that one slide in favour of moving onto some of the other problems.

For starters, this particular assertion:

?We have supported various legal changes in recent years to remove unjustified discrimination and create greater legal rights for same sex couples and we welcome that fact that previous legal and material inequities between heterosexual and same-sex partnerships have now been satisfactorily addressed.?

Which sound lovely. Except it?s not true. For one, the Guardian have already pointed out that the church didn?t support the Civil Partnerships Act ? in fact, six bishops in the House of Lords voted against the act, whilst one voted in favour.

I also cry falsehood on the idea that inequalities have been ?satisfactorily addressed?. The church may be satisfied, but there are a whole lot of gay couples who aren?t. You see, despite claims to the contrary, civil partnerships aren?t marriages in all but name. There are a number of key differences, which include:

  • No requirement of consummation of a civil partnership (which, actually, was a compromise to placate the Church?).
  • Consequently, a civil partnership can?t be dissolved on the basis of adultery, whereas a divorce could be granted to a married couple.
  • Civil partnerships cannot be conducted as a religious ceremony. Regardless of whether the church/mosque/synagogue/whatever in question wants to provide such a ceremony or not.

And besides that, the terminology matters. The way it is phrased gives an impression that they are different, and unequal. How, precisely, can that be said to have solved inequalities?

The document goes on to say that:

?Marriage benefits society?by acknowledging an underlying biological complementarity which, for many, includes the possibility of procreation.?

Which, in itself, is true. But the alternative side of the coin is that for others it?does not include the possibility of procreation. For example, those who do not want children, or are unable to have them. For them, presumably, marriage is a celebration and public declaration of love. Will the Church also be pursuing banning of such childless couples from marrying? Or will their marriages be retrospectively annulled?

Moving on, the CofE document makes clear that it thinks the motivations behind the proposed changes are ideological, saying:

?We also believe that imposing for essentially ideological reasons a new meaning on a term as familiar and fundamental as marriage would be deeply unwise.?

Equal marriage is ideological. But then, so is keeping gay couples excluded from marriage. And, to be honest, as ideologies go I think equality has to be the safest one to go with.

The whole thing builds to a rhetorical climax built around the assertion that:

?We believe that redefining marriage to include same-sex relationships will entail a dilution in the meaning of marriage for everyone??

The church has already established that marriage as it currently stands is a force for good in society. The impression gathered from their argument is that this is primarily because of the ability to produce children. This is the only material difference between homosexual and heterosexual relationships, and honestly I find the idea that the church thinks this is more important to marriage than love utterly laughable.

I?ve already said that I support gay marriage, based upon an underlying principle of inequality. It?s clear that the person (people?) who wrote document already had a view to the contrary to mine. This, presumably, is based around Leviticus 18:22, which forbids homosexual relations. But if I was to go through everything that Leviticus forbids (including shellfish and tattoos) we?d be here all day. Far more important to the country?s premier Christian institution, I would have thought, would be Matthew 7:12:

?Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.?

Which seems, to me, like a pretty strong endorsement of equality.

One thing that I do agree with the Church on is their assertion that a situation where marriage is available to all, but civil partnerships restricted to gay couples, would be legally unsustainable. My preferred solution would be to open both institutions up to anyone. Let people choose which they want. But don?t block their choices based on predjudice on such arbitrary grounds as sexuality.

I would have more sympathy with the church?s opposition, I expect, if there was any chance of churches being forced to marry gay couples. But that isn?t on the cards. That has never been on the cards.

Lastly, I couldn?t leave this alone. One of the reasons the Church of England present in opposition to the proposed legalisation of gay marriage is:

?We also note that by no means all LGBT people are in favour of redefining marriage in this way.?

The words ?pot? ?kettle? and ?black? spring to mind, given that as I?ve already said, this consultation has been presented as the united view of the Anglican congregation, when it is anything but.

UPDATE: Subsequently to posting this blog this morning, I ran across this poll from YouGov, dated last week. Conducted for Stonewall, it seems to show that actually more religious people in Britain support gay marriage than oppose it. By a ratio of three to two. Yet more evidence suggesting that the Church of England?s response to the consultation does not represent the majority, let alone the settled, view of its members.

RolePlayGateway?

Introduction

A body laid in the midst of the forest, bloody and broken. This body appeared to belong to a 17 year-old boy, lean framed, longish blond hair, curled slightly and as bright as sunlight. The boy was presumed dead by the police but by the time the FBI was called in to investigate, the body was gone. Disappeared. No one knew who he was or where he'd come from but this mysterious occurrence was certainly enough to spark a certain fear.

Suddenly, children began to go missing. Ranging in age from 12 to 17, all races, all genders. No body had any clue what was going on, they thought all this might link to a kidnapper or serial killer, that is, until sightings of a large creature with black wings started to be reported. The creature appeared human but with large wings roughly fourteen feet in wingspan.

The people who'd been seeing him began to refer to this creature as Lucifer, the fallen angel, fearing the end was upon them.

Lucifer

They call me Lucifer. But I can tell you right now I am not the Lucifer. I am not the beast with the number 666, I am not the fallen archangel cast away from Heaven. I am a thing. Or at least, that is how I was referred to when I was created. I was not made by some sort of God, I was made in a lab. They stole a child from an orphanage and strung it's DNA up with that of several animals. I am winged, my eyes are golden brown like a hawk's and my ears are pointed and as acute as a bat's I have claws, sharp as a leopard's. I am a weapon. They tried to force me to kill, to take down enemies. They tortured me until I have in. I had to. I think about killing a lot. I struggle to control myself.

I escaped, though. I knew there were others, maybe not like me but others who were tortured, others who needed help. So I rescued them. I am not a kidnapper, they all come willingly. We train. We will fight when we are ready. We will have our revenge.

There are more in that lab, from before me. There are some with telepathic minds, some with amazing stamina or strength. They were created after me. No one experimented with more animal DNA, the occasional one-animal splice but not as many as they put into me. They called me a mistake when I brutally mauled something they called "an enemy". Was I not meant to kill? Why were they torturing me for doing well?

So I attacked them. I attacked them and grabbed the others, as many as I could... all so young... all younger than me.I hated the scientists. I couldn't stop myself from killing them all.

I took the others and left. And I found more. Abused children, beaten children. All my age or younger. They needed help. So I provided it.

And we will have our revenge.

The Army

My Army are the children and adolescents that I have saved. They are trained in combat and weaponry. Crossbows, swords, spears, bow and arrows, rapiers, staffs, even the occasional gun we can get our hands on. Anything to take down our enemies, those who have wronged us. I do not like guns, I much prefer weapons we can make ourselves, I trust them better but if the police, SWATT, the FBI or any other organization becomes involved, we will need as much firepower as we can get.

The Army is growing continuously. I have many on the look-out for new members, new children or adolescents who have lost their way, who have been abused. Those abused sexually, beaten by their parents, I've even known parents to try to "beat the gay" out of their kids if they are homosexual or bisexual, parents who will starve or neglect their children if they do not conform to 'traditional' gender roles. I've known people to kill others or not believing in the "right" god, to torture their children if they do not conform. I've known parents who've forced their kids to follow a set path, living through their kid. I've seen parents inject their kids with drugs to enhance performance, to force them to train day and night for some pointless sport the child doesn't even enjoy.

It all sickens me.

Here, all are accepted, all are equal, all are free to be who they want to be. If they do not wish to fight, I will not force them. I know they will want to join eventually. The Army is for justice. For freedom.
